Every year, thousands of people around the world are diagnosed with blood cancers and blood disorders and urgently need a stem cell transplant. Finding a matching donor isn’t easy - many patients are still waiting for their perfect match, and some never find one.
DKMS works tirelessly to change that by registering potential donors, raising awareness, and giving more people hope when they need it most.
Rams Club Captain, Patrick Cannon, will be running the London Marathon this year to raise funds for DKMS and also to highlight the need for more people to join the register. You could save a life.
It’s something that Pat knows first hand: “I’m running the London Marathon 2026 for DKMS, a charity that is incredibly close to my heart - because I’m not just a supporter, I’m also a stem cell donor.

A few years ago, after signing up to the DKMS register, I got the call telling me I might be a match for someone with a blood cancer or blood disorder.
Like many people, I was nervous and unsure what to expect - but I knew this could be someone’s only chance at life. I went ahead with the donation and was able to give what I can only describe as the most incredible gift: a second chance at life to a complete stranger.
That experience changed me - and it’s why I’m taking on 26.2 miles for DKMS.”
