The Reserves got their pre-season up and running with a cockle-shed derby against the old foe, Leigh Town. It was a fairly even opening, with Rams dominating the ball for much of the opening period but with Town showing that they would be dangerous on the break. The Rams squandered two or three really good chances to take the lead but they came in at the break happy with the performance and feeling confident for the second half.
The second half had a similar pattern as the first and the Rams had a few good half chances, Alex Willmore narrowly missing the target as he saw his 25 yard drive just zip past the post. A freekick conceded just outside the penalty area was the Rams' undoing before Town, with already a couple of games under their belts, took charge and scored another as the Rams began to run out of steam. A decent outing and the Rams will be pleased with the levels shown in the first 65 minutes. On to the next one!
